Description	:	Leo "Wells" Fournier, 86, of Woodland Drive died Tuesday morning at his home with his family by his side. He was born on Dec. 21, 1920 in New London, son of the late Alexander and Anastasia (Counihan) Fournier. Mr. Fournier graduated from the Norwich Free Academy Class of 1940. He served his country honorably in the Army Air Corp in World War II. Wells flew B-17's for the 574th Bomber Squadron in the 8th Air Corp, and then he volunteered to fly C87s and C84s in China, Burma and India ferry supplies to the troops. After the War, Wells... Read More	Leo "Wells" Fournier, 86, of Woodland Drive died Tuesday morning at his home with his family by his side. He was born on Dec. 21, 1920 in New London, son of the late Alexander and Anastasia (Counihan) Fournier. Mr. Fournier graduated from the Norwich Free Academy Class of 1940. He served his country honorably in the Army Air Corp in World War II. Wells flew B-17's for the 574th Bomber Squadron in the 8th Air Corp, and then he volunteered to fly C87s and C84s in China, Burma and India ferry supplies to the troops. After the War, Wells worked for Electric Boat for 35 years retiring in 1986. He was a supervisor in nondestructive testing for EB. Mr. Fournier was united in marriage to Natalie Wheeler in 1954 at the United Methodists Church in Norwich. Mrs. Fournier survives her beloved husband of 52 years. Wells was a communicant of St. John's Church in Uncasville. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, the Elk's in Norwich, the Calabrese Club in Westerly, RI and the Polish American Club in Uncasville. Mr. Fournier is survived by two sons, James A. Fournier of Longview, Washington and Jonathan W. Fournier of Norwich, one daughter Melissa A. Fournier of Stowe, Mass., one sister Jean Gagnon of Alexandria, Va., and eight grandchildren. Wells was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather and a true friend to those who had the privilege of knowing him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Church in Uncasville. Burial will follow with military honors in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Norwich.
