Leola was born on February 17, 1929, in rural Arlington, Iowa, to Giles and Nettie (Page) Hicks. She attended Arlington High School. Leola was united in marriage to William Lerch on July 15, 1951, in rural Arlington, Iowa. She was a homemaker. Leola enjoyed spending time gardening, bird watching and doing puzzles. Leola was born on February 17, 1929, in rural Arlington, Iowa, to Giles and Nettie (Page) Hicks. She attended Arlington High School. Leola was united in marriage to William Lerch on July 15, 1951, in rural Arlington, Iowa. She was a homemaker. Leola enjoyed spending time gardening, bird watching and doing puzzles. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her four children, Sharon Lerch, Elgin, Michael "Looch" (Julie) Lerch, Wadena, Wendy (Peter) Wolf, Dubuque, and Julie McCready, Elgin; five grandchildren, Mark Wolf, Paul (Joni) Wolf, Jennie (Joel) Cardo, Daniel McCready, and Ben (Kami) McCready; four great-grandchildren, Carter, Kaelee, Lucy Wolf and William Cardo; three sisters, Arietta (Mick) Leonhart, S.D., Virginia Roete, Oelwein, and Audrey Johnson, Oelwein. Leola was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, William Lerch on February 7, 1967; one brother, Myron Hicks; and a son-in-law, Mike McCready. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at 10:30 am at First Baptist Church in Elgin, Iowa. The Rev. Lee Boleyn will officiate. Burial will follow in God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, from 4 - 8 pm at the Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elgin, Iowa, and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
