Description	:	LEOLA MORRISON, RETIRED TEACHER, DIES IN ESCONDIDO A retired Porterville School teacher, Leola Morrison, died last night in Valley Vista rest home in Escondido where she had been for the past two years. Miss Morrison retired from teaching at the end of the school year in 1969, concluding a career which had spanned 39 years - 23 of which had been spent in the Porterville Union high school district. Read More	LEOLA MORRISON, RETIRED TEACHER, DIES IN ESCONDIDO A retired Porterville School teacher, Leola Morrison, died last night in Valley Vista rest home in Escondido where she had been for the past two years. Miss Morrison retired from teaching at the end of the school year in 1969, concluding a career which had spanned 39 years - 23 of which had been spent in the Porterville Union high school district. Her resignation to retire was accepted with commendations by the trustees. She came to the local district in 1946 as a teacher in the business education department. Miss Morrison moved to Monache when that facility opening in 1967. During the year Miss Morrison served in the local school district she held positions of dean of girls, girls' attendance counselor and counselor. Prior to coming to Porterville she taught one year at Lake Elsinor high school and 13 years in Iowa schools. Miss Morrison received her bachelor of arts from Upper Iowa university and her masters degree from the University of Iowa. She did graduate work at the University of Southern California, Fresno State university, Claremont Graduate school, San Diego State, Stanford university and Occidental college. Miss Morrison was active in Sigma Tau Delta, national English fraternity, Pi Omega Pi, national business education, the American Association of University Women, Zonta International, California Association of Secondary School Administrators for student Welfare and Attendance, California Association of Women Deans, California Teachers association, National Education association, Youth Coordinating Council, Mental Health association, Order of the Eastern Star and the United Methodist church. Survivors include a number of nieces, including Beverly Wilson of Escondido and Marge Bellis, also in Southern California. Funeral services are pending in Escondido.
