Description	:	Funeral services for Leon F. Englehart, age 86 of Bison, will be held at 10:30am Monday, July 16, 2007 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Bison with Fr. Brian Fawcett, officiating. Burial will be in the Bison Cemetery with full military honors afforded by the Rogers-Smith American Legion Post of Bison. Special music will be provided by Todd and Tracy Buer. Serving as Honorary Casketbearers are Levi, Josh, and Marlana Lee. LEON FRANZ ENGLEHART was born December 1, 1920 at Bison, SD to Louis and Vera (Obst) Englehart. He grew up on the family ranch south of Bison and attended Antelope Country School. Leon worked on neighboring ranches for a few years until the call of Uncle Sam came during World War II. Leon served in the U.S. Army from August 25, 1944 until January 13, 1946 on the European front. Once back home, he spent many years working for Arnold Heck Construction. On June 25, 1955 Leon was married to Lela Mae Dailey in Bison. When construction of missile sites began in the Dakotas, he worked at various locations. During this time, Leon and Lela Mae had added a daughter, Irene, and son, Jim, to the family. They moved to the Dailey homestead in 1966, where they have farmed and ranched together ever since. He was a member of the Rogers-Smith American Legion Post for over 60 years. Leon passed away on Thursday evening, July 12, at the Golden Living Center in Rapid City. Surviving family members include his wife, Lela Mae, 1 son, Jim Englehart, both of Bison, SD; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Lucky Lee, Rapid City, SD; 3 grandchildren, Levi, Josh, and Marlana Lee; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Dean and Beverly Englehart, Meadow, SD; Llewellyn and Karen Englehart, Bison SD; 5 sisters and 1 brother-in-law, Ann Carter, Lucille Stoeser, both of Pierre, SD; Phyllis and Arlo Nash, Faye Schell, Edith Kok, all of Hettinger, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Louis and Melvin Englehart, and 1 sister, Esther Nash.
