He grew up at Cedar Bluffs and graduated from Cedar Bluffs High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant at Seattle, WA during the Korean War. After his discharge, he moved to Fremont. He had been residing at Arbor Manor for the last 5 years. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; 2 daughters, Diane Jurgens of Fremont and Deborah Moyer of Lincoln, NE; brother, Milton D. Jurgens of Missouri; 3 grandchildren, Matthew O. Moyer and wife, Monica, Nicole D. Moyer and Nathan A. Moyer and wife, Lacey; and 2 great grandchildren, Matthew E. Moyer and Alexander H. Moyer. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers, Curtis, Dale and Jerry Jurgens. A private graveside service for Leon will be held at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
