Description	:	A Mason who was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in Readfield Lafayette Lodge Apr. 17, 1897; S.S. 1898; S.D. 1899; J.W. 1900; S.W. 1901; Master 1902-04; D.D.G.M. 1907-08. Member of the Winthrop Chapter, No. 37 R.A.M., Alpha Council and Trinity Commandery K.T. and Lafayette Chapter O.E.S. Treasurer of Readfield 1906. Elected Register of Deeds for Kennebec County in 1906; Secretary of Kennebec County Agricultural Society several years. Originated the movement for the erection by the Stage of the monument over the grave of Ex.-Governor Jonathan Hunton (at Readfield Corner Cemetery). His home was in Readfield and his... His home was in Readfield and his business is that of merchant tailor in 1909. He later moved to Waterville. Married in 1902 Tessie May Gile, dgt of Edward H. & Mary Gile and grand-dgt of Asa & Ursula Gile. In Waterville they lived on Burleigh St. and he served three terms as Waterville mayor. He was also the first collector of the internal revenue for Maine and New Hampshire. He and Tessie owned a home near Readfield Corner, 1116 Main St, which they inherited from her mother, Mary Gile. They maintained that as their summer residence and named it "Fern Wood Cottage". They were very involved in the Readfield Union Meeting House, for one thing gave money for a trust fund to maintain the tower clock.
