Description	:	Leon Storse Richardson served in World War I as a Private. He was assigned to the 6th Bn., 20th Engineers, Co. D (16th Co.) He was aboard the Transport SS Tuscania when it was torpedoed 5 February 1918. He was tall, slender, with brown eyes and brown hair. His occupation was farmer in Plains, Montana. (information shared by Steve Schwartz, Tuscania, an American History) Leon Richardson was murdered Nov. 1920 by his wife's mother, Mona May McCully because he wished to move from the McCully ranch with his wife and two children to the city. Mona went to prison in Montana after the trial in 1921 and died there. The entire story was published in "Actual Detective" June 1943 and is in the possession of the McCully family. Conributed by family; His mother-in-law, Mona May McCully was transferred from the Montana State Penitentiary to the Warm Springs Montana State Hospital on 15 Oct 1930. She was diagnosed as paranoid. She died at the state hospital 9 Jul 1938. She's buried in grave no. 829, which is unmarked. The story about the reason for the murder isn't entirely true, it's a bit more complex. Leon had used some of his "war money" to help the McCully's with their mortgage problem. He felt this entitled him to make decisions about running the ranch. There had been hard feelings between he and his in-laws. Mona had bonded with her grandson while Leon was in France in WWI. Leon threatened to take his wife and child away from the ranch if they didn't do what he wanted, he knew this would really get under Mona's skin. That was too much for Mona, and as they say, the rest is history. Mona had a serious head injury when she was about 15 and was subject to severe headaches, which the family called "spells." The headaches didn't help her mental state much either. How do I know all this? Mona's daughter Eloy was my wife's grandmother, and my regular fishing partner for many years until she died. We had many conversations about this incident. -------------------------
