Archibald Cardie of Burlington, with interment in Elmwood cemetery at Morning Sun. Mrs. Leona (Swartz) McClurkin was born at New Vienna, Ohio, July 23 1858, and passed away at Mercy hospital, July 20, 1926, where she had been a patient sufferer since last November. All was done that could be for her comfort by kind and loving hands, but God willed it otherwise that she enter into her reward. Mrs. McClurkin was united in marriage to Mr. James McKee McClurkin, November 8, 1877, at Morning Sun, and lived in or around this community all her life. Her husband preceded her in death thirteen years ago. She united with the Presbyterian church of this place a number of years ago and had always been a faithful member, and as long as her health permitted was ready to do what she could to make the world better by her sympathetic words and kindly acts. She will be missed by her many friends and neighbors. Her health having failed her, she was first taken to the home of her sister, Mrs. C. F. Curran, where she had every care for ten months, eight of which she was bedfast. In Novemer, 1923, she went to make her home at the Old People's Home in Burlington, where she had every comfort, and soon learned to love it as her own home. In the fall of 1925 she became ill, and in November was moved to Mercy hospital where she was confined to her bed until her death. Many were the loving acts done for her while there. She leaves to mourn her passing one brother, J. L. Swartz of Burlington, Iowa, and three sisters, Mrs. Kittie Gawthrop of Burlington, and Mrs. Nora Curran and Mrs. Hannah Delzell of Morning Sun, besides a number of nieces and nephews.
