She was born March 24, 1914, in Duncan, to Frank and Catherine (Kuta) Nowicki. Leona grew up in Duncan and attended school at St. Stanislaus School at Duncan. In 1956, she moved to Silver Creek and came to Fremont in 1961. She worked at the former Woolworth Store in Fremont. Leona Nowicki married Herman W. Alexander on Nov. 16, 1935, in Omaha. Leona grew up in Duncan and attended school at St. Stanislaus School at Duncan. In 1956, she moved to Silver Creek and came to Fremont in 1961. She worked at the former Woolworth Store in Fremont. Leona Nowicki married Herman W. Alexander on Nov. 16, 1935, in Omaha. Herman preceded her in death on March 26, 1992. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, St. Patrick's Women and Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 200 all of Fremont. Survivors include her son, Timothy Alexander and wife Barbara, of Elkhorn; daughters, Renee Kosinski; and special friend Dave Gourley, of Fremont, and Lynnette Blankman and husband Edward, of Omaha; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herman Alexander; brothers, Albert and Edward Nowicki; and sisters, Monica "Minnie" Ingold, Pauline Sheftick, Victoria Romanek, Helen Cuba and Clara Boro. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. The Rev. David Belt will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today with a vigil service at 7 p.m., all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or Fremont Eagles Auxiliary Cancer Fund. Moser Memorial Chapel 2170 N. Somers Ave., Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
