Description	:	Leona Mogard Funeral services for Leona Mogard, age 81, of Clear Lake, SD will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Clear Lake. Rev. Dennis Hansen will officiate. Leona passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 in the Deuel County Good Samaritan Center in Clear Lake. Burial with be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake. Dennis Hansen will officiate. Leona passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 in the Deuel County Good Samaritan Center in Clear Lake. Burial with be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake. Honorary Pallbearer will be her Nieces and Nephews. Active Pallbearers will be: Jerald Johnson, David Hammer, Roger Wiess, Dale Smith, James Johnson, Clark Toben, Kelly McDaniel and Scott Schaffer. Music will be provided by Randy Petrick, soloist and Judy Oleson, organist. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:30 p.m. with sharing of memories at 7:30 p.m. at the Houseman Funeral Home in Clear Lake on Friday, January 23, 2009 and will resume Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Leona was born on August 9, 1927 on the family farm east of Tunerville to Victor and Diana (Trahan) Johnson. She was baptized on May 8, 1941 in the Congregational Church in Clear Lake. She was raised on a farm east of Tunerville and attended and graduated from South Dakota School of Agriculture in Brookings. She married John Jr. Mogard on September 27, 1946 in the Congregational Church in Clear Lake. Following their marriage they farmed near Tunerville. In 1958 they moved to Robbinsdale, MN where they lived until 1963 when they moved back to another farm east of Tunerville until their retirement in 1989. They then bought a home in Clear Lake where she lived until 2007. John passed away on January 13, 2004. She moved to an apartment in Hidewood Estates and then into the Deuel County Good Samaritan Center where she died on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the age of 81 years 5 months and 12 days. Leona was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and was active in the WELCA and circle. She was on the Advisory board at the Deuel County Good Samaritan Home for 6 years. Leona loved her family and friends and was famous for her rice krispie bars which she made for many occasions. She loved to dance with her husband, enjoyed traveling through out the United States, sightseeing and visiting family and friends. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Karla (Wayne) Haug of Brookings; two granddaughters: Karleen (Kevin) Fry of Onalaska, WI and Kathy (Dan) Wing of Mindoro, WI; three great-grandchildren: Kyler Fry, Victoria Wing and James Wing; two sisters: Gladys (Edgar) Wiess of Watertown, Wanda (Keith) Smith of Huron; one brother: Harold (Bonita) Johnson of Olympia, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents and two brothers: Melvin and Erwin Johnson.
