Description	:	Leona E. Kelle, 97, of Adams, formerly of Sterling, died Thursday morning, October 8, 2015 at Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams. She was born on March 8, 1918 at Brunswick and graduated from Cook High School in 1935. She worked at the Martin Luther Home in Sterling. On October 24, 1937 she married Wilke “Bill” Kelle at Emmanual Lutheran Church of Cook. They lived on the farm northwest of Sterling until retiring in 1987 and moving into Sterling. Kelle, 97, of Adams, formerly of Sterling, died Thursday morning, October 8, 2015 at Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams. She was born on March 8, 1918 at Brunswick and graduated from Cook High School in 1935. She worked at the Martin Luther Home in Sterling. On October 24, 1937 she married Wilke “Bill” Kelle at Emmanual Lutheran Church of Cook. They lived on the farm northwest of Sterling until retiring in 1987 and moving into Sterling. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Sterling, taught Sunday School for many years and was the Sunday School Superintendent. She belonged to the church women's group and church ladies quilting group. She was also a former member of the PTA, Band Mothers, Sterling Community Association, Latrobe Extension Club and was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, gardening, playing cards and Bingo. Survivors include one son, Richard Kelle and wife Kris of Sterling; three daughters, Cheryl Unvert and husband Roger of Sterling, Betty Kirby and husband John of Lincoln and Deb Kuwamoto and husband Ralph of Lincoln; eight grandchildren, David Kelle, Jason Adams, Thomas Johnson, Mark Unvert, Mary Beth Rathe, Melissa Kocour, Marcy VanEngen and Megan Unvert; 22 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gottfried and Lydia Petersen Stutheit; step-mother, Minnie Paulman Stutheit; her husband, Bill, who died on January 22, 1997; son-in-law, Kenneth Adams; five brothers; and three sisters. Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 12, 2015, at the North St. John Lutheran Cemetery of rural Sterling. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 12, at St. John Lutheran Church of Sterling with Pastor Steve Chellew officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 A.M. Monday in the church basement. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with Shannon and Erma Hazen in charge. The body will lie in state at the Zink-Fox Funeral Home on Saturday from noon until 8:00 P.M. and Sunday from noon until 8:00 P.M. A register book for signatures and messages of condolence is available online at www.foxfuneralhome.net. Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling is in charge of the arrangements.
