Description	:	Leona Juanita Unzicker was born September 28, 1927 to Albert and Helen (Thompson) Unzicker in Beresford, SD. The family moved to Spencer, SD shortly after her birth and she grew up in Spencer where she graduated from Spencer High School. On November 9, 1945 she married Kenny Knudson of Salem, SD and together they operated a dairy farm for over 40 years. In addition to their own three children, they hosted numerous foster children and adopted Jennifer Dubrea Knudson Swallow in 1966. Kenny died in 1998. The family moved to Spencer, SD shortly after her birth and she grew up in Spencer where she graduated from Spencer High School. On November 9, 1945 she married Kenny Knudson of Salem, SD and together they operated a dairy farm for over 40 years. In addition to their own three children, they hosted numerous foster children and adopted Jennifer Dubrea Knudson Swallow in 1966. Kenny died in 1998. In 2000, Leona moved into Salem where she worked as a para-educator and continued to enjoy her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. At the time of her death she had 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed word puzzles, bingo, bowling, and most important, the worship services hosted by the area pastors. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church at Center where she was involved in WELCA, Circle, and the quilters group. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny, her parents, and a granddaughter, Laura Swallow. From the Kinzley Funeral Home
