Rev. Jim Loutzenhiser will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be in the O’Neill Cemetery. Leona passed away Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Atkinson, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the Word of Life Christian Center in O’Neill. Biglin’s Mortuary of O’Neill is in charge of arrangements. Leona Lucille Siewert was born May 20, 1923 in Naper, NE to J.R. and Katherine (Korb) Siewert. She graduated from Naper High School in 1941. She then moved with her parents to O’Neill, NE. She moved to Denver, CO in 1943. She met Robert Knox and they were married on September 18, 1948 in Denver, CO. She was employed as a secretary in Credit Services at Olinger Mortuary for many years. During this time, she and Robert went to Hawaii to build a home for the owner of the mortuary. They spent better than a year there until the project was complete. After returning to the states, she and her husband purchased and operated a restaurant in Grand Lake, CO. Leona worked very hard to make their restaurant a great place to visit. The couple eventually retired to a home in Loveland, CO. They truly enjoyed RVing, so that found them traveling around the United States until cold weather found them parked in Arizona. They met lots of new friends and returned there for several winters until Robert passed away in 1997. At that time, Leona moved back to O’Neill to be closer to family. Leona is survived by nieces; Peggy Sidak and husband Dave of Emmet, NE, Debra Eversoll of Murrieata, CA, Juanita Eppenbach of Kearney, NE, nephew; Robert Knox of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; sister, Iris Eppenbach, nephew Donald Eppenbach and niece Linda Brown. (biglinsmortuary.com/obituary)
