She was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian A. and Jennie (Bogaards) Schippers; husband, Darrell in 1998; and son, Larry in 2001; and brother, Willis. Leona has lived in Newton since 1960. Leona was an inspector in production for the Maytag Company for many years. Leona enjoyed taking her granddaughters to horse riding lessons when they were younger, going to horse shows, gardening, baking, entertaining, traveling, shopping, fishing, sports, especially college basketball and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Memorials to Skiff Hospice may be left at the church at the time of the services, they may also be left at the funeral home; or may be mailed to the funeral home, if mailing please add, Attn: De Bruyn family on the envelope.
