Description	:	Leona Mildred Wilson, born February 23, 1903, in Exeter, passed away August 30, 1979, at the age of 76 years. She was the daughter of Frank and Alvena Gabriel and wife of Herbert Wilson of Exeter. She was united in marriage to Herbert on March 14, 1923. To this union of 56 years, two children were born, a son, Royce Leon Wilson of Lincoln, and a daughter, Marlene Joy Nielsen of Exeter. Leona and Herbert resided in Omaha and Davenport for a number of years where she made many friends before making her permanent home in Exeter. To this union of 56 years, two children were born, a son, Royce Leon Wilson of Lincoln, and a daughter, Marlene Joy Nielsen of Exeter. Leona and Herbert resided in Omaha and Davenport for a number of years where she made many friends before making her permanent home in Exeter. Leona was a kind and giving person, giving of her time and talents to many. Loving the little children and caring for her seniors with tenderness. She gave numerous years to the nursing home in Exeter, teaching the craft class. Leona was a member of the United Congregational Church in Exeter, and taught Sunday school here and in Davenport for 18 years. Leona was preceded in death by her mother and father; two sisters, Myrtle Johnson and Thelma Gephart. She leaves behind, her loving husband, Herbert; son, Royce; daughter Marlene; brother, Frank E. Gabriel of Long Beach, Cal.; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 2, at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Exeter, with Rev. Randy Middleton officiating. Mrs. John Horne sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Going Down the Valley" accompanied by Mrs. Evelyn Mitchell. Pallbearers were Chris Wilson, Gary Wilson, Leo Murphy Jr., Larry Wilson, Rick Nielsen and Hugh Wilson. Interment was in the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter. The Nebraska Signal September 13th, 1979.
