Description	:	Leona C. Walker of Campbellsburg, IN, formerly of Fort Wayne, IN, died Monday, October 21, 2002, at Washington County Hospital in Salem, IN. Born on February 27, 1911, in Campbellsburg, IN, she was the daughter of Jesse Barnet and Luella (Rolston) Chastain. She married Ernest L. Walker on April 24, 1932, and he died August 17, 2001. Surviving are one son, Kevin Gene Walker of Bryan, TX; one daughter, Karen Sue Walker of Fort Wayne, IN; and two grandsons, Blaine Marmon Walker of Austin, TX, and Tristan Andrew Walker of Boerne, TX. Born on February 27, 1911, in Campbellsburg, IN, she was the daughter of Jesse Barnet and Luella (Rolston) Chastain. She married Ernest L. Walker on April 24, 1932, and he died August 17, 2001. Surviving are one son, Kevin Gene Walker of Bryan, TX; one daughter, Karen Sue Walker of Fort Wayne, IN; and two grandsons, Blaine Marmon Walker of Austin, TX, and Tristan Andrew Walker of Boerne, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Velma Barnard. She was a 1929 graduate of Campbellsburg High School and a graduate of Central Normal College with additional studies at Indiana University and St. Francis University in Fort Wayne. She began her teaching career in a one room school in Vernon Township in Washington County and later taught business subjects at Harlan, Williams, and Campbellsburg, IN high schools. She taught twenty years at Waynedale Elementary School in Fort Wayne and retired in 1974. She was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, Fort Wayne Chapter of Sigma Delta Kappa Sorority, Salem Woman's Study Club, Waynedale Chapter #600 Order of Easter Star, and Lost River Missionary Baptist Church. Services for Leona Walker will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 24th, at Lost River Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Jeffery Satterfield and Larry Williams and Bro. Darrin Chastain officiating. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery.
