Description	:	Leonard August Borer, 80 of Elgin, NE, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Norfolk Veterans Home in Norfolk, NE. Leonard, son of Alphonse and Helen (Kramper) Borer, was born November 15, 1931 at Platte Center, NE. Leonard attended school at a rural Boone County school east of Petersburg, NE. He worked for several farmers in the area during his teen years before entering the United States Army on August 5, 1952. He served as a tank instructor at Ft. Read More	Leonard August Borer, 80 of Elgin, NE, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Norfolk Veterans Home in Norfolk, NE. Leonard, son of Alphonse and Helen (Kramper) Borer, was born November 15, 1931 at Platte Center, NE. Leonard attended school at a rural Boone County school east of Petersburg, NE. He worked for several farmers in the area during his teen years before entering the United States Army on August 5, 1952. He served as a tank instructor at Ft. Lenard Wood, MO and was honorably discharged on August 6, 1954. He returned to Nebraska to begin farming. On April 19, 1955, Leonard was united in marriage with Taureta C. Stuhr at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Raeville, NE. The couple made their home on a farm southeast of Elgin, NE all of their married life, where Leonard farmed and raised livestock. Leonard was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Leonard is survived by: special friend: Alberta Sieler of Lynch, NE; sons: Steven (Helen) Borer of Seward, NE; Gary (Lyn) Borer, Larry (Julie) Borer and Merle (Emily) Borer, all of Elgin, NE; daughters: Patricia (Tom) Stoltz of Elgin, NE; Suzanne (Rodney) Tangeman of Omaha, NE; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchidren; brothers: Alvin Borer of Scottsdale, AZ; Kenny Borer of Omaha, NE; sister: Marlene Petzold of Elm Creek, NE. and a host of relatives and friends. Leonard was preceded in death by: parents; wife Taureta Borer in 1999; brothers: Eugene, Ed and Norman Borer; and sister: Laura Salber. A Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, NE. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #229 and VFW Post #5816 of Elgin, NE.
