The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral on Monday. Leonard Dick Kruse was born on June 25, 1931, in Grant Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, to Harm and Louise (Ahrendt) Kruse. He went to country school and later helped his parents on the family farm. Leonard enlisted in the United States Army on November 19, 1952. He attained the rank of corporal prior to earning an honorable discharge on October 29, 1954. On April 27, 1957, Leonard and Charlotte Idean Miller were united in marriage at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Leonard took a position with Sioux Tools in Le Mars and retired as the plant manager. Leonard was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars, where he ushered and served on various committees. He was an active member of the Le Mars Sportsman Club. He also belonged to Wasmer Post #241 of the American Legion and the Pioneer Machinery Club. He owned a rare 1954 Farmall Super MTA tractor that he was very proud of. Most important to Leonard was his faith and family. Spending time with his grandson T.J. was at the top of the list. Leonard will be lovingly remembered by his son, Tim Kruse and wife Sherry of Le Mars; daughter, Linda Oxley and husband Mike of Des Moines, IA; grandson, T.J. Kruse of Le Mars; sister, Lauretta Van Buskirk; brother, Charles Kruse; and niece, Beverly Van Buskirk, all of Le Mars.
