Description	:	Leonard Eldon Eifert was born to Franklin Walter and Maunie (Jackson) Eifert on August 3, 1915, at Kearney. He passed away on Dec. 26, 1995, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 23 days. He was one of four children in the family. Leonard and Viola moved to Fairmont, where they resided on the farm. He was... Read More	Leonard Eldon Eifert was born to Franklin Walter and Maunie (Jackson) Eifert on August 3, 1915, at Kearney. He passed away on Dec. 26, 1995, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 23 days. He was one of four children in the family. He was born and grew up in Kearney and attended school there. On Feb. 15, 1939, he was united in marriage to Viola Taubenheim of Amherst. Two children blessed this marriage. Leonard and Viola moved to Fairmont, where they resided on the farm. He was active in farming for 47 years and retired from the farm and moved to the town of Fairmont in 1986. He was a member of the Fairmont Community Church and in his working years was active with various local community affairs. He served on the Rural District No. 28 School Board and as a member of the Fairmont Public School Board of Education. Leisure time was enjoyed as long as his health would permit, by fishing and camping. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Maunie Eifert; wife, Viola Eifert; son Marvin Eifert; and by a brother and sister. He is survived by his son, Gaylord Eifert of David City; brother, Howard Eifert of Kerville, Texas; daughters-in-law, LaRae Eifert of LIncoln and Judith Eifert of York; three grandsons, Greg, Mike and Brad Eifert; two granddaughters, Sheri Eifert Townsdin and Jennirfer Eifert; and one great-grandson, Brandon Townsdin. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 1995, from the Fairmont Community Church with the Rev. Laura Bartels officiating. Nancy Jo Galusha accompanied Gregory Rehm who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden." Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery at York. Contributor: M. Jensen Seggerman
