Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. He died Monday, July 14, 2008, at his home. Leonard Elwin Clough was born April 11, 1919, at Winnetoon to Burt Norman Clough and Lulu Nye Clough. He was called home on July 14, 2008, at his home in Creighton at age 89. He attended elementary school at Knox County District No. 24 and graduated from Winnetoon High School in 1938. He married Lucille Pahl on Dec. 25, 1946, at Creighton. Leonard and Lucille were blessed with five children, Carol, Andith, James. Sherry and Laura. His family as his pride and joy. Leonard developed many skills during his life. He started his work career as a machinist in Michigan after graduating from high school. In this position he advanced to a supervisor and trainer until he returned to Nebraska to help care for his ailing mother. At this time he and his father operated a welding business. After his father's death he spent of over 35 years in public service. He served as chief of police in Creighton for over 10 years. During this time he was an active member in the Nebraska Peace Officers Association. For the next 21 years he and Lucille operated Creighton Ambulance Service and provided emergency medical transportation for much of Northeast Nebraska. While in the ambulance business Leonard served on the statewide task force that developed Nebraska's emergency medical services plan. His business is now operated by his daughter Ardith as Northeast Ambulance Service. In addition to these activities he also served on the Creighton Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Throughout his life Leonard was very active in church work. He especially loved serving his Lord and Savior through music. As a young man he was a soloist for a daily Christian radio program called the Glorious Gospel Hour. He later was one of the leaders that brought the full Gospel message to the Creighton and Plainview communities. At the time of his death he was a member of Faith, Hope and Love Fellowship in Creighton. He is survived by his wife Lucille and his five children, Carol Kumm of Osmond, Ardith Kutchera of Norfolk, James Clough of Tulsa, Okla., Sherry Olson of Norfolk and Laura Johnson of Rapid City, S.D.
