Read More	Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, April 28, 2005 Leonard "Johnny" Eugene Jung, youngest son of Herbert and Blanch (Aird) Jung, was born August 4, 1930 in Holyoke. He died April 20 after he had been hospitalized in North Colorado Medical Center at Greeley for about three weeks. Johnny was baptized into the Christian faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst on August 31, 1930. As a young man, he reaffirmed his baptismal covenant through the rite of confirmation on April 2, 1944 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst. He attended both the parochial school at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the public school in Amherst. Later, he earned a GED. On August 31, 1950 Johnny married Mary Ellen Owens at Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke. To this union two daughters, Sheryl Lynn and Debra Kay, were born. After they married, Johnny worked for Phillips County road and bridge in both Amherst and Holyoke. He also worked 24 years at Highline Electric Association in Holyoke as purchasing agent. He retired from HEA in 1993. Johnny was a dedicated family man. He enjoyed the various family activities and looked forward to the opportunities to gather with family and friends. He enjoyed playing golf. He played in the men's league for several years, first the evening league and in later years the morning league. Johnny enjoyed hunting arrowheads and spent many afternoons with his family climbing hills and walking through pastures looking for arrowheads and other artifacts. Johnny was a charter member of the Amherst Volunteer Fire Department. He served several years on the Holyoke Golf Association board of directors. During those years on the board, he served a term as president of the board. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. Throughout the years, he served in a variety of positions in the church including elder, usher and trustee. Johnny taught Sunday School and enjoyed working with the children. His service to the church the past several years included duplicating tapes of the Sunday worship service for distribution to the shut-ins and sick. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, his twin Lorraine (Jung) Smith and Roma Jung; and two brothers, Claude and Melvin "Bud." He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Sheryl Lynn Cline and husband Bob of Loveland, and Debra Kay Fisher of Greeley; five grandchildren, David Nieman of Loveland, Jody Sirio of Greeley, Jennifer (Nieman) Johnson and husband Jason of Evans, Luke Neiman of Evans, and Kelli Brown and husband Jon of Bellevue, Nebraska; eight great-grandchildren, Kyler and Keaton Sirio of Greeley, Jordin, Jacob and Jaylin Johnson of Evans, and Nick, Nate and Zack Brown of Bellevue; one sister Marie (Jung) Milliken and husband Jarvis of Brule, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends.. Funeral services for Leonard "Johnny" Jung were held April 26, 2005 at Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke. Interment was at the Holyoke Cemetery. Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, September 7, 1950 MARY ELLEN OWENS AND JOHNNY JUNG MARRIED The Lutheran church was the scene of a small and impressive wedding August 30, at three o'clock when Miss Mary Ellen Owens, daughter of Mrs. Emma Owens of Holyoke, became the bride of Johnny Jung, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Jung of Amherst. Rev. R. Einspahr performed the double ring ceremony. The bride was attired in a tan gabardine suit, with navy blue accessories. She wore a corsage of white gladioli. Her only attendant was Patricia Milner, who wore blue with white accessories and a corsage of pink carnations. The best man was Arlan Rafert, friend of the groom. The bride's mother wore a green dress with white accessories and Mrs. Jung wore blue with white accessories. Both wore corsages of pink carnations. The bride graduated from Holyoke High School and at the present time is employed at the Gamble store in Holyoke. The groom is employed at Amherst. The newlyweds left immediately for a brief honeymoon after which they will make their home in Holyoke.
