Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2003, in Woodmere Abbey of Remembrance, Woodmere Memorial Park, with the Rev. Ed Grant and Rev. Ralph Sager officiating. "DOC" DeLANCY, 83, of Barboursville, widower of Beatrice Trent Rice DeLancy, passed away Saturday, April 26 2003, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2003, in Woodmere Abbey of Remembrance, Woodmere Memorial Park, with the Rev. Ed Grant and Rev. Ralph Sager officiating. Entombment will follow in the South Garden of Faith. He was born March 12, 1920, in Huntington, a son of the late Joshua and Edna DeLancy. He was a member of Steele Memorial United Methodist Church and VFW Post # 9738, whose members will conduct Military Graveside Rites. He was a retired Carman with the former C & O Railway and a veteran, having served in Europe during World War II. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by a stepson and daughter-in-law, Fred and Elizabeth Rice of Barboursville; two grandchildren, Kelly Shivel of Huntington and Bret Rice of Maysville, Ky.; three great-grandchildren, Kristina Shivel, Harry Shivel III and Elizabeth Reynolds and her spouse Jason; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at Woodmere Abbey of Remembrance. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Steele Memorial United Methodist Church or Hospice of Huntington.
