Colee, 93, Grand Forks, ND, died Monday, November 26, 2007 in Valley Eldercare Center, Grand Forks, ND. Leonard George Colee was born November 17, 1914, the son of William A. and Rose C. (Ackerman) Colee in Reynolds, ND. He attended country school in Michigan Township, rural Reynolds and worked on the family farm. He married Mary K. McMenamy on February 16, 1942 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Reynolds. Soon after his marriage, Leonard entered the United States Army on 20 July 1942 serving in the European African Middle Eastern Theater and was honorably discharged on 6 October 1945 attaining the rank of Corporal. He returned home where he worked the Murray Farms. Later he managed the Reynolds Improvement Association from 1950 to 1957. They moved to Grand Forks in 1957 and that year he began working for the ND State Highway Dept as an equipment operator until his retirement in December of 1977. Mary preceded him in death on April 3, 1992. Leonard was a member of the Knights Of Columbus Council 6340, Reynolds, the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 350 all of East Grand Forks, MN. He is survived by his daughters, Kay (Paul) Cunningham, Thompson, ND, Marsha (Paul) Eagleton, Clarkston, MI and Lori (Blake) Beckstead, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Bob Seaman, Mary Schachinger, Dawn Bowers, Kenny Cunningham, Paula Sonterre, Tom Beckstead, Nikki Beckstead and Kyle Beckstead; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Fred (Helen) Colee; sisters-in-law, Betty Majors and Laverne McMenamy; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Rose Ann Miller; grandson, Ryan Beckstead; his parents; a sister, Agnes New; brothers, George, Joe, Ray and John.
