Description	:	BRUNSWICK--Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 8 in the Brunswick Congregational church for Leonard Hales, 72, who passed away, Wednesday Oct. 6. Mr. Hales was stricken Monday morning while at work in the bank of which he was president. He was taken to the Plainview hospital, where he died Wednesday. Death was caused by a heart attack. The Rev. Clarence Hanscom officiated at the services. Burial was in the Tilden cemetery. Leonard Hales, son of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Hales, was born November 26, 1881 at Brighton, England. He came with his parents to this country, when a small child. On August 1, 1904, he was united in marriage to Mary Barber of Missouri Valley, Ia. at Logan, Ia. They made their home in Tilden, where he was depot agent. In 1911, they moved to Ewing, where he was connected with the railroad and later entered the banking business. They moved to Brunswick 25 years ago, here he operated the bank until his death. Mr. and Mrs. Hales celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, August 1 of this year. Mr. Hales and his wife have been active in business and social activities in the community. The recently returned from a tour of the western states. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Bert Spearman of Brunswick and Mrs. Kenneth Hunt of Ainsworth; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. P.E. Danes of Waterloo, Ia. and Mrs. E.S. Pier of Binghamton, N.Y and three brothers, Ralh of West Point, Vernon and Harold of Tilden. ...(The Creighton News 14 Oct 1954)
