Hagler, of Savage at the United Church of Christ in Savage with Pastors Charlotte and Donald Sickbert officiating. Hagler was 65. He died Feb 3, 1982 at Community Memorial Hospital in Sidney. Hagler was born April 25, 1916 in Duquoin, Kansas, the son of George and Edna Hagler. In 1919 he moved with his parents to Brush, Colo., where they farmed sugar beets and where he was raised. In 1930 they moved to Montana, being one of the first families to farm sugar beets in the Savage area. On August 7, 1938 he was united in marriage to Alice Rasmussen at Sidney. They made their home in Savage where they farmed until 1944 when they moved to Miles City. They farmed in the Kinsey area near Miles City until 1954 when they returned to the Savage area where they took over the family farm and have lived since. Hagler was very active in sugar beet farming and was a director of the Montana-Dakota Beet Growers Association and also served on the board of the Lower Yellowstone Irrigation Project. He was a member of United Church of Christ in Savage, and served on the R.E.A. board. After his retirement in 1975, Leonard enjoyed spending many hours working in his flower gardens and doing carpenter work for the community. Surviving his are his wife, Alice; two sons, Donald and Leland Hagler both of Savage; on daughter, Mrs Harvey(Kay)Hamburg of Savage; one brother, Robert Hagler of Missoula, Mont.; three sisters, Mrs. Matt(Lois)Mathison of Miles City, Mont, Mrs. Elwood(Alice)Prigan of Savage, Mont., Mrs. George(Betty)Lapp of Terry, Mont.; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home.
