Funeral services will be Friday, May 18, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Central Christian Church with Rev. Paul Fraser officiating. Burial will be in the Boone Memorial Gardens. Leonard was born in Boone on April 25, 1928, the son of Archie and Ruth (Steven) Grimm. He graduated from Jordan High School in Jordan in 1947. He married JoAnn Bloomquist in Boone on July 2, 1950. Leonard was a machinist at Quinn Machine and Foundry from 1952 to April of 1990, when he retired. He served with the Iowa National Guard in Boone for four years. Leonard was a member of the Mt. Olive Masonic Lodge #79 AF and AM, Order of the Eastern Star, Loyal Order of Moose #104, and a Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed fishing at Lake Okoboji, camping, bowling, woodworking, and leather working. Leonard is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lucille and Gail. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Boone; a son, Marlin Grimm and wife, Sherrie of Boone; two daughters, Pamela Myers and husband, Donald of Pilot Mound and Diana McLaughlin and husband, Scott of Boone; a brother, Russell Grimm and wife, Yvonne of Sylmar, California; two sisters, Jessie Leininger of Boone and Muriel Swigert of Ogden; three grandchildren, Andrew Grimm and wife, Tonya of Dayton, Chantell Grimm and Kyle McLaughlin, both of Boone; five great grandchildren, Halle Grimm of Florida, and Michael Christy, Kaylin Christy, Lillian Grimm, and Nolen Grimm, all of Dayton. Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A Masonic Service conducted by the Mt. Olive Lodge #79 will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening. Visitation continues Friday at the Church from 9:00 a.m. to service time.
