Leonard was a graduate... Read More	January 3, 2014 Leonard R. Leonard Star Beacon ASHTABULA — Leonard Raymond Leonard, age 53, was carried to the arms of his Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014. His family sent him on his journey with love prayers and thanksgiving for the wonderful life he was given and the joy of Life Eternal. The son of Lewis and Rosa (Gray) Leonard was born in Albuquerque, N.M. on Nov. 7, 1960. As a young child, he and his family moved to the Ashtabula area where he remained a lifelong resident. Leonard was a graduate of Edgewood High School. On May 18, 1981, on the island of Hawaii, he married his best friend and partner for life, Denise Saturday. They have celebrated thirty-two years of love and memories. Leonard was employed by Conneaut Telephone Company; he enjoyed his work and the many friends he made. Leonard and Denise traveled every year to Daytona Beach, where he fished, played golf and created the occasional sandcastle. Leonard was a dedicated and active member of the First Baptist Church of Ashtabula. He served on the Board of Deacons of which he was Chairman. He was a long time Sunday school teacher showing how the love of Jesus could help you find a better life. He was a member of the Choir and when his children were young he was also active in the Youth Group. His greatest enjoyment came from his family, he was especially fond of his beautiful grandchildren. Leonard always had time for an extra hug, kiss or pat on the back. Leonard will be remembered for his love of friends and family, his great strength and faith during his illness and devotion to his God. He is survived by his loving wife, Denise; children, Anthony (fiancé Jen Hart) Leonard and Rebecca (Ernie) Forbes, both of Ashtabula; four grandchildren, Avery, Sarah, Emily, Ella and awaiting the birth of a new baby; siblings, Jessie (Bruce) Crockett of Michigan, Bill (Debbie) Sherburne of Kingsville, and Della Earley of Florida; sisters-in-law, Mary Goetz of Erie, Pa., Brenda (Tracy) Hood of Florida, and Renee' (Joe) Miller and Keith (Sheila) Saturday, both of Ashtabula; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Johnston of Ashtabula; many loving nieces and nephews; and his loving church family from First Baptist Church of Ashtabula. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Rosa Leonard. Funeral Services will be held 12 Noon, Tuesday, Jan., 7th, at the First Baptist Church, 4353 Park Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Douglas Wright officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville. Calling Hours will be observed from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 6th, at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. There will be an additional hour from 11 a.m. until time of Service, Tuesday, at the Church. If desired, contributions in Leonard's name may be made to the family.
