Mr. Rebik was born June 27, 1919, in Toledo, Iowa, and moved to California as a child. He graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1938 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Rebik married Frances Rebecca Brooke in Chico on March 1, 1946. The Rebiks had recently celebrated their 57th anniversary. Upon his return to Brawley, he began working as a hay contractor. He then opened Rebik's Auction Yard in 1957, where he worked as an auctioneer until his death. He also had been an auctioneer for the Heart Fund, several churches and many estate sales throughout Southern California. Mr. Rebik was active in square dancing, according to family. He began square dancing in 1951 and had attended many of the annual national square dance festivals throughout the United States, family states. He was preceded in death by his sister, Emma McLaughlin, in 1999; and brother, Emil Rebik in 2001. Survivors include his wife, Frances Rebik of Brawley; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Ray Maxey of Bloomington, Martha and Ted Jaban of Imperial, Patricia and Thomas Carlson of Fresno and Norma and Dean Parker of Merced; daughter, June York of Pensacola, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Nan Rebik of El Centro; son, William Rebik of San Luis Obispo; sister, Alice Spaugh of Imperial; brothers, Peter Rebik of Brawley and Charley Rebik of Turlock; and 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
