His passing was attributed to several complications, climaxing in pneumonia. He had been ill at his home for the past three weeks and was taken to Norfolk Saturday evening for treatment, where the death angel entered and ended his suffering. The deceased was born at Bells Corner, Mich. on September 2, 1878 and died at Norfolk, Nebr. on February 3, 1930 at the age of 51 years, 5 months and one day. At the age of 6 years he came with his parents to Royal, Nebr., where they resided on a farm. In the years 1891 they removed to Neligh, where Mr. Sherman lived until he had reached his 30 birthday, when they came to Creighton, where Mr. Sherman has since made his home. During his residence in Neligh he attended high school and was very active in musical circles, having played with both the Neligh band and orchestra. He was also a member of the Creighton band, when this musical organization existed and assisted the orchestra on many occasions. He had a talent for music and his services were greatly appreciated. Following the death of his father in 1889, he had been a constant companion of his mother and had given her excellent care and assisted her in every way possible. Mr. Sherman conducted an acreage garden enterprise immediately north of Creighton for quite a number of years and had built up a profitable business in fresh vegetables. He rendered a courteous service in all of his dealings and by being disposed to exactness and fairness commanded respect of his fellowmen. His death is a matter of lamentation to many, who enjoyed his lifetime of friendship and association. He leaves to mourn his mother, Mrs. Kate Sherman and three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Gardner of this city; Mrs. Effie Holt, Des Moines, Iowa and Mrs. Belle Passer of Blossvale, N.Y. Funeral services will be held this Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from the Hengstler & Son chapel. M.L. Holt of Neligh, Nebr, and son, Clifford Holt of Des Moines, Iowa were in charge of and both delivered a very fitting eulogy of the deceased and said prayers. Burial will be in the Millerboro cemetery beside his father. To the bereaved mother and sisters, The News and friends join in extending sincere sympathy. We especially wish to thank former members of the band and members of the orchestra for the floral bouquets and to those who contributed cars at the funeral.
