Description	:	Leonard Wesley Powers, 85, of St. Paul died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Zeona; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jeanette Powers of Columbus; two daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and Charles Morgan of North Loup and Colleen and Dennis Ringlein of Ord; a brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Tina Powers of Winthrop Harbor, Ill.; a sister, Leona Brodline of the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord; and two sisters-in-law, Jo Powers of Phoenix and Ruth Powers of Taylor. He also leaves to cherish his memory five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild who all lovingly referred to him as the "Ole Goat." As a child, he attended the Sunny Side grade school for eight years of his youth. He was united in marriage to Zeona Stevens on March 1, 1940, at St. Paul. The couple farmed near Taylor until moving to a farm near St. Paul in 1947. To this union, three children were born, Larry Powers, Claudia Powers Morgan and Colleen Powers Ringlein. In 1953, the family moved into St. Paul, where Leonard was employed by the State of Nebraska Department of Roads until his retirement in 1989. He also worked part time at the Conoco Station on weekends and evenings from 1959 to 1975. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a 4-H leader for six years and served on the county school board from 1948 to 1953. His favorite hobbies were making leather coin purses for people, feeding birds and squirrels, collecting antique coins and guns and enjoying his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marcella Heins; and four brothers, Victor, Stanley, Eldon and Harold Powers.
