Description	:	Leonard was born on March 24, 1912 in York County, Nebraska to William and Emma (Maronde) Strobel. On April 7, 1912, our gracious Lord received him into His kingdom through the washing of Holy Baptism at St Paul's Lutheran Church in York County. Read More	Leonard was born on March 24, 1912 in York County, Nebraska to William and Emma (Maronde) Strobel. On April 7, 1912, our gracious Lord received him into His kingdom through the washing of Holy Baptism at St Paul's Lutheran Church in York County. Leonard was confirmed on May 17, 1925 at St Paul's Lutheran (York county) where he publicity confessed before God and the congregation, the gifts which God has granted to him through Holy Baptism. Leonard attended school in York County and received his training to be a welder at the Western Pipe and Steel Welding School in California. On October 11, 1936, Leonard was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ellen Cotner at St Paul's Lutheran Church (York County). The moved from York County to Cozad, Nebraska after their marriage. In 1940, they moved to California where he built ships during World War II. In 1946, they returned to Nebraska and purchased the W O Golder building in Clarks, Nebraska and began the L W Strobel Blacksmith Shop. The original building still remains in Clarks and Leonard worked out of this location until his death. Since 1969, he has also worked wit his son and grandsons in Strobel Industries and Strobel Construction. Leonard was a member of St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Central City, Nebraska where he had served as an elder. He was an avid horseshoe player. was active in the community baseball program, collected antique tractors, and was a member of the Nebraska Blacksmith and Welding Assoc., the Butler and Saunders County Assoc., and the National Welders and Machinists Assoc. Our heavenly Father called Leonard to his eternal rest with Him in heaven on Monday, February 19, 1996 while at Community Care Center in Central City. The funeral service will be held at St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Central City, with the committal service at Greenwood cemetery in York. Leonard was preceded death by three brothers, Clarence, Harry and Carl; and three sisters; Lamyra Pokorny, Laura Tonniges and Ruth Nienhueser. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Clarks; one son, Dwight of Central City; one daughter, Janet Manstedt of Clarks; two sisters, Dorothy Carter of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Marie Prell of Osceola, Nebraska; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
