Leone Dorothea (Pipho) Bergmann was born on November 11, 1920, the daughter of Martin and Bertha (Dettmer) Pipho in rural Sumner, Iowa. She was baptized on December 5, 1920 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spring Fountain, rural Sumner, by Rev. F. E. Schaller. Read More	Leone D. Bergmann, 96, of Waverly, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly. Leone Dorothea (Pipho) Bergmann was born on November 11, 1920, the daughter of Martin and Bertha (Dettmer) Pipho in rural Sumner, Iowa. She was baptized on December 5, 1920 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spring Fountain, rural Sumner, by Rev. F. E. Schaller. She moved with her family to Waverly in 1924, attended St. Paul's Lutheran Parochial School for eight years. She was confirmed on April 7, 1935 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly by Rev. R. C. Schulveter. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1939. On October 20, 1940, she was united in marriage to Edgar L. Bergmann at St. John's Lutheran Church, Western Douglas by Rev. R. H. Steege. The couple farmed in the Wester Douglas area, retiring in 1982. In 1960, they started the Bergmann Insurance Agency, which in January of 1977 it became the Bergmann-Reuscher Insurance Company. In 1984, it became Bergmann-Moeller-Reuscher Insurance Agency and in 1992, became Moeller Insurance Agency. The couple moved to Plainfield in 1996. In August of 2002, the couple moved to Waverly, making their home at the Waverly Home. In May of 2010, she became a resident of the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Western Douglas and a member of the A.L.C.W., where she served as various offices. Survivors are her daughter, Mary Heinemann of Readlyn, Iowa; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sybil Pipho of Henrico, North Carolina and son-in-law, Duane Boevers of Sumner, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar on July 21, 2004; son, James Bergmann; a daughter, Janice Boevers; grandson, Brett Lenius; three brothers, Wilbert, Wayne and Lavern Pipho and son-in-law, Gary Heinemann. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Good Shepherd Chapel – Bartels with Pastor Allen Bidne officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Western Douglas. Memorials may be directed to either St. John's Lutheran Church, Western Douglas or Bartels More Than Bricks Campaign.
