Description	:	Leone Ruth Blegen was born in Dodge Center, Minnesota April 5, 1915 the daughter of Irl N. and Marie W. (Rohwer) Rounseville. She moved to Decorah with her parents in 1927. Leone Blegen was baptized at the age of 18 at the Congregational Church in Decorah and confirmed in the adult class at the First Lutheran Church in 1952. Leone Blegen attended the Decorah Public Schools and upon her graduation, she attended Luther College from 1933 to 1935. This was the first class of women to attend Luther College. In 1938, Leone married G. Clayton Matter. To this marriage, a daughter was born, Marcia M. Matter. In 1950, she married Nathan Blegen. Leone Blegen worked in retail sales most of her life, until she retired in 1993. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and she loved to read and go camping. Leone was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Ladies VFW Auxiliary. Leone Ruth Blegen was preceded in death by her parents: Irl and Marie Rounseville; her brother: Robert Rounseville; her husband, Clayton Matter in 1948; and her second husband, Nathan Blegen in 2001.
