Read More	Leonia Cooper, 13, Called by Death Had Struggled Bravely Against Disease for the Past Year or More Leonia Grace Cooper, youngest daughter of Willis and Lizzie Cooper, died at the family home three miles south of Randolph on August 9, 1928, at 5:30 p.m. She was born in Cedar County, nine miles northwest of Randolph, on May 5, 1916. At the time of her death, she was 12 years, 3 months, and 4 days old. She was of a very lovable disposition and numbered her friends by her acquaintances. Never very strong, she began failing a year ago, being able to attend school only the first two months the past year, from which time she gradually became weaker until April 8th, when she was taken worse and from that time on was confined to her bed. All that loving care and thought could do was done for her, but the Master claimed her as His own. Looking up, she said, "I know about Heaven. I want to go there." In her last sickness she said to Mrs. Anderson, who was helping care for her, "Mrs. Anderson, will you please give me a drink?" Then she said, "You better call brother and sister." then she fell asleep. She leaves to mourn her, her parents; a brother, Earl, and sister Pearl; her aged grandparents; and many aunts uncles, and cousins. One brother, Harry, preceded her in death. Funeral services were held in the M.E. church Sunday afternoon at 2:30., Rev. F. A. Carmony (?) preaching the sermon. Burial was made in the Randolph cemetery. This community was saddened on Thursday of last week when Leona Grace Cooper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Cooper, passed away after a lingering illness. Leona had just passed her 12th birthday on May 5th. A short prayer service was held at the home Sunday afternoon, after which funeral services were conducted by Rev. Carmony at the Methodist church at 2:30. The body was laid at rest in the Randolph cemetery in the community that had been her home. Her school mates carried floral offerings, which made a very touching service, and the many friends present gave evidence of the love and respect felt for Leonia by all who knew her. With the passing of this young life, a great sorrow has come upon the family that will be made easier to bear for the all-loving Father has blessed them with many true and loving friends, who join in extending their sympathy and love to the sorrowing ones in their bereavement. To the relatives and friends, we wish to thank you one and all for your kindness to our Darling in her sickness. You helped her to pass the many happy hours by coming to see her and bringing so many flowers and dainties for her. And after death, we thank Rev. Carmony for his beautiful sermon, and the singers, and for the lovely flowers, and the friends that did so much for us. We can never forget your kindness, and may God Bless you all.
