When still a small child she moved with the family to Portland, OR, to Marlin, and then Wheeler, WA. She attended public schools in Portland and Marlin. Leontina was married to Fred Deife on Oct 27, 1912. The couple had one son and four daughters. Velmer was killed in action in the Army in 1945. Mrs. Deife was a member of the United church, a long-time member and past president of Ladies Aid Society, a member of United Daughters, and a charter member of the Memorial Hospital Guild. Survivors include the four daughters, Alma Johnson of Spokane, Mildred Thompson and Norman Campbell of Tulsa, OK, and Elaine Schauerman of Odessa; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; as well as five sisters, Mrs. Emma Laib of Ritzville, Miss Elsie Stoller of Kelso, Miss Agness Stoller of Denver, Mrs. Minola Harris of Spokane, and Mrs. Edna Neher of Boise.
