Description	:	Leora LaVerne Macy 93, passed away peacefully September 21, 2015 at the home of her daughter Jane Lehan in Leawood, KS. She was born in Longmont, Colorado to Harry and Rose McCasland whose parents were early pioneers in Pearl, Colorado. LaVerne, and her twin sister LuCille Gill, were raised in Loveland and graduated from Colorado A& M (CSU) where they were both cheerleaders. She met and married Don Macy, a Loveland pharmacist in 1947. From 1954 to 1998 they lived in Fort Morgan where Don was the sole proprietor of Macy's Rexall Drug. She was born in Longmont, Colorado to Harry and Rose McCasland whose parents were early pioneers in Pearl, Colorado. LaVerne, and her twin sister LuCille Gill, were raised in Loveland and graduated from Colorado A& M (CSU) where they were both cheerleaders. She met and married Don Macy, a Loveland pharmacist in 1947. From 1954 to 1998 they lived in Fort Morgan where Don was the sole proprietor of Macy's Rexall Drug. In 1998 LaVerne and Don returned to their cherished Loveland where they enjoyed the beauty of the mountains and numerous friends. In Fort Morgan LaVerne was a high school Home Economics teacher and a founding member of the Fort Morgan Museum and Heritage Foundation. For more than 50 years she was a member of both PEO and Philo. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. LaVerne had been an avid golfer and loved bridge, which she played into the final year of her life. Her friends and family knew her as a gracious, smart and strong woman. LaVerne will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, grandson, and granddaughter [survivors names omitted]. She was preceded in death by her daughter Lynn Macy and her husband Donald. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 24, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 533 N. Grant Ave., Loveland CO 80537. A reception will follow in Coy hall.
