Description	:	Leota B. Pickert Garwood, 83, of Cedar Rapids, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Colonial Manor in Amana. Services: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at Teahen Funeral Home by Pastor Bill Randles. Burial: St. Michael Cemetery, Norway. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. She is preceded in death by her husband, Merle in 2016; infant daughter, Susan; 2 sisters, Mary Jones and Kathleen Shimek and three brothers, Theodell, Arthur and David. Leota Barbara was born on July 15, 1935, in Norway, the daughter of Arthur and Ida Sevening Pickert. On April 23, 1956, she married Merle W. Garwood at St. Michael Catholic Church in Norway. Leota worked at Rockwell Collins as a secretary for many years. Leota enjoyed golfing, walking, traveling and going for coffee. She was an Iowa Hawkeye fan and a member of the Red Hat Society. The family would like to thank all of the nurses, aids, and staff at Colonial Manor in Amana for the loving care shown towards Leota and her family.
