Mass of the Christian burial will be Saturday. Nov. 3, at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Iowa City. The Rev. Thomas Doyle will officiate. Graveside services will be Saturday at 3:30 at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Donohue-Lensing Funeral Home in Iowa City, where a parish wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Chase was born Jan. 29, 1907, in Carroll, a daughter of John and Catherine (Forbes) Martes. She graduated from Carroll High School. She married Earl Chase Nov. 7, 1926, in Audubon. He died Aug. 13, 1986. She was a sales clerk and secretary for many years at J.C. Penney in Iowa City, and was later employed by the University of Iowa in the inventory department. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Iowa City and the Jonco Jills. Survivors include one daughter, Georgia (Mrs. Wayne) Fliss of Dickinson N.D.; one son, Jack of Hudson; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and one daughter, Gloria Jean. A memorial fund has been established.
