Description	:	The Reveille Echo newpaper article of Thursday, 7 June 1900. "Fatal Accident-- Lepi Heaton, the thirteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Heaton was instantly killed Sunday afternoon by being struck by a flyer on the Fort Wayne road. The accident occurred about one and one half miles west of this city. Lepi was walking on the west bound track when a freight was coming along. "Fatal Accident-- Lepi Heaton, the thirteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Heaton was instantly killed Sunday afternoon by being struck by a flyer on the Fort Wayne road. The accident occurred about one and one half miles west of this city. Lepi was walking on the west bound track when a freight was coming along. He stepped off from the track onto the other one and was walking toward New Waterford when one of the fast flyers struck him. The engineer on the flyer thought that the boy never saw the train as he seemed to be looking down. The train stopped and backed up and the train men picked up the boy and he was brought to this place. The top of his head was crushed in but he was not bruised or hurt otherwise. Death must have been instantanious. The funeral was held Monday afternoon from his late home, Rev. T. H. Armstrong officiating. Interment in the East Palestine Cemetery. A father, mother and several brothers and sisters are left to mourn his sudden and untimely demise." He is buried in Lot 13 of the Glenview Cem in East Palestine, Columbiana, Ohio Reveille Echo 7 Jun 1900. "Whereas, according to the inscrutable decree of the most high, death has entered the home of our beloved sister, Mrs. Samuel Heaton, and taken from her her beloved son Lepi, be it Resolved, that we, the members of Beatrice Lodge No. 133, Daughters of St. George, hereby offer our sincerest sympathy to the bereaved family and commend them to the divine consolation of our Heavenly Father, to sustain them in the loss of their beloved son. Be it further Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of this lodge; a copy be sent to the bereaved parents, and that they be published in the Reveille Echo. Jean S.
