Active pallbearers were Attorney Horace P. Whitworth Jr., Edward Gillespie, Robert Dawson, Russell Otto, Joseph Rinard, Bernard Cross, Dr. C. A. Ryan and Earl Hess; honorary, Dr. Robert W. Bess, Dr. J. H. Wolverton Jr., George Robertson, Monroe Pierce, Milton McIntyre, Alphonsus W. Determan, Irwin Hanna, George Davis, Edward Dayton and Kenneth Fazenbaker. Born in Midland, Md., Mr. Flanagan had spent most of his life in this community. He was employed in the printing shop of the Luke plant of the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co., but was on vacation at the time of his death. Although he had not been feeling well recently, his death was unexpected. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the parish. Surviving are two sisters the Misses Rose and Naoma Flanagan. His parents were the late John and Elizabeth (Grant) Flanagan."
