Leroy Hindman, son of Johnnie T Hindman and Pearl Mosley Hindman, was born June 12, 1915 at Marionsville, MO. He was an electrician prior to being inducted on December 2, 1942 in the United States Army at Forth Leavenworth, Kansas, serving in the continental service for six months and 29 days and foreign service for two years, four months and 6 days. He was awarded the Bronze Star for the Rome-Arno Campaign and the Good Conduct Medal. He was entitled to wear European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon and four overseas bars. He was honorably discharged for the United State Army on November 8, 1945. Leroy retired on November 26, 1982 from the Department of Transportation Federal Aviation administration.He received a Certificate of Service that he served 24 years and six months to the people of the United States of America. He married Velma M. Gillum and two children were born to this marriage, David L. Hindman and Lynda L. Wilson. He was married to Verda (Mathine) Marshall on August 23, 1973. They lived in Creighton. She preceded him in death on April 26, 1879. On October 15, 1982 he married M. Eugenia Velarde Villanueva at Center. They resided in Creighton. For more than 19 years they =were snow birds at Cuernavaca, MX. Leroy passed away January 24, 2002 at Cuernavaca, MX. Leroy was a continuous member of the VFW #1151. He enjoyed music, playing several instruments. His favorite was the saxophone. He and Bob Pearson had a music combo and played for dances, mostly at the Creighton VFW Club. He was a Husker fan and loved to garden, especially flowers. His hobby was model trains. Survivors include his wife, M. Eugenia Hindman; two children; David L. Hindman and Lynda L. Wilson; three step children, Rev. Donald E. Marshall, Sandra E. Jimenez Velarde and Marco Antonio Jimenez Velarde and grandchildren.
