Description	:	Lee Roy Elliott (better known as Roy) the fifth son of Perry and Catheryn Elliott, was born Jan 28, 1885, in Luke county, Neb.**, and departed from this life Nov. 4, 1964, at Lamoni at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 7 days. Read More	Lee Roy Elliott (better known as Roy) the fifth son of Perry and Catheryn Elliott, was born Jan 28, 1885, in Luke county, Neb., and departed from this life Nov. 4, 1964, at Lamoni at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 7 days. Death was due to a heart attack. His early years were spent in Nebraska and Henry county, Iowa. Roy enjoyed meeting people; he was a lover of nature and the seasons of the year. In his youthful years, he took up farming as his occupation, where he could get the benefit of all earthy possessions. In Roy's early life his mother passed away, leaving a sad, stricken father and a family of six boys, who all have preceded him in death, except his oldest brother, Frank. In his youthful years he was employed by the late James Gillaspey and in 1912, moved with his family from Henry county, Iowa, to one of Mr. Gillaspey's farms in Lamoni, working for him for several years. During the following years he lived the remainder of his life span in this community. Due to ill health, he moved into his home in town on Sept. 5, 1964. In 1906, he was united in marriage to Emma Davis and to this union 10 children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife on June 21, 1939, and by two infant daughters. He leaves to mourn his passing four sons; Allen, Raymond and Stanley of Lamoni; Lee Roy Jr. (Bud) of Kansas City, Mo.; four daughters: Mrs. R.G. Naylor (Zella) of Central Valley, Calif.; Mrs. Joe Simpson (Leota) of Lamoni; Mrs. Ruth Twombly of Greeley, Colo.; and Mrs. A. L. Harrison (Maxie) of Baldwin, Kan.; his brother Frank of Burlington, Iowa; 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and a very close friend, Maud Snively, along with a host of relatives and a community of friends. Roy became a member of the Methodist church when a young boy and was a believer in the Restoration movements to the end. He was a kind and considerate of all his fellowmen, always doing good by helping those in need, a good father, neighbor, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. "Dad, when we remember, as we will every day. All you've done to make us happy, things we never could repay. We will keep awondering, if there was something special we should have done To have shown you how grateful we were as we know, you loved us one by one." Funeral services were held at the Stewart funeral home at Lamoni, Saturday, Nov.7, with Elder William Ballantyne officiating and Elder Morton Edmunds assisting. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Lamoni.
