Description	:	Leroy Stakey was born on August 19, 1896 in Bondurant, Iowa, the only son of Frank and Viola Stakey. He had five sisters: Rosa, Hattie, Martha, Bessie, and Clara. Roy spent his boyhood years in Bondurant and then joined the navy. He was a World War I veteran. After the war, Roy came to southwest Iowa, barbering in Bridgewater, Iowa and Corning Iowa, and then moved to Massena, Iowa. Read More	Leroy Stakey was born on August 19, 1896 in Bondurant, Iowa, the only son of Frank and Viola Stakey. He had five sisters: Rosa, Hattie, Martha, Bessie, and Clara. Roy spent his boyhood years in Bondurant and then joined the navy. He was a World War I veteran. After the war, Roy came to southwest Iowa, barbering in Bridgewater, Iowa and Corning Iowa, and then moved to Massena, Iowa. On September 15, 1920, Roy married Bertha Slezak, the daughter of Fred and Leota Slezak. Roy and Bertha celebrated their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries at the Massena Methodist Church, with an open house each time. Roy and Bertha had three children: Leo, Marvin, and Pauline. Leo was born October 30, 1921 and married Helen Neiens of Wiota, Iowa. They have three children, Sharon, Jim, and Peg. Marvin was born May 11, 1926 and married Shirley Jonson of Elk Horn, Iowa. They have two children, Lori Jo and Doran. Pauline was born August 19, 1928 and married Louis Frank of Cumberland, Iowa. They have twins ons, Gene and Gerald, and one daughter, Kathy. Roy was a resident of the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa for four and a half years until his death on August 18, 1985. Roy was a 50 year member of both the Massena Masonic Lodge and the American Legion Post 693. Bertha died in 1991.
