Description	:	Leslie Darrell Martin, 80, of Central City died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Paul Blanchard officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post Six. Private family interment will be in the Central City Cemetery. Read More	Leslie Darrell Martin, 80, of Central City died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Mr. Martin was born on June 7, 1930, at home in Central City to Leslie William and Nina Grace (Dughman) Martin. He was preceded in death by an infant son, David Lloyd Martin. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Willie of Central City; children, Darrell Leslie "Bud" and Shari Martin of Longmont, Colo., Daniel Dale and Sharon Martin of Papillion, Judy and Berri Balka of Lincoln and Donald Post of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Alvin Glover of Grand Island; and a brother-in-law, Donald Ostrander of Grand Island. Also left to cherish his memory are three grandchildren, Sara White, Emily Wells, and Aaron Martin, twin great-grandsons, Hudson and Lucas White. He grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School in 1948. After graduation, Darrell worked as a truck driver for the U.S. Navy Ammo Depot in Hastings. In 1952, he entered the U.S. Army and served in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and returned to Central City. On June 6, 1956, Darrell was united in marriage to Loretta Stromberg. They made their home in Grand Island where Darrell worked for Fairacres Dairy. Darrell moved back to Central City in 1967, and continued to work for Fairacres Dairy. On Dec. 5, 1969, Darrell and Alice "Willie" Post were married and made their home in Central City. Darrell worked for the elevator in Chapman, Wilson Concrete and Bill's Volume Sales in Central City. He retired from Bill's Volume Sales in 1990, but for several more years he worked part-time for them. Darrell was a member of American Legion Lone Tree Post Six and the Eagle's Club. He raised and raced greyhounds, as well as hunting coyotes with them. He also enjoyed deer hunting, playing pool and bowling. He was preceded in death by his parents;two sisters, Beverly Ostrander and Joyce Martin; and an infant brother, Orville Martin.
