Surviving are a son, Barry, Lima; a daughter, Pam (Mike Newland) Steed, Lima; three stepdaughters: Debbie (Tom) Hunt, Elida, Toni (Jerome) Anderson, Ishpeming, MI, and Becky (Ronnie) Newland, Lima; a brother, John, Cairo; a sister-in-law, Jean Best, Bluffton; and six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He retired from Superior Coach Corp., Lima, and the Cairo Elevator. He was an U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict and a receiver of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Columbus Grove VFW, Post 9648 and the Columbus Grove American Legion, Post 516. He had been a member of the Cairo Volunteer Fire Department for over 60 years. He enjoyed remote controlled air planes and stock car races at Allentown Speedway. He was an excellent worker and excelled at everything he did. Services will be at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, with Wesley Buettner, Cairo Volunteer Fire Chief, and Pastor Rich Rakay officiating. Burial to follow in the Cairo Eastside Cemetery.
