Ralston was born August 28, 1911 to Mark and Vickie (Bowers) Ralston at their home in rural Conrad. He graduated from Conrad High School in 1931 and has been a long time resident of Conrad. His mailing address his entire life has been Conrad, Iowa. Leslie was united in marriage to Pearl Waugh on November 21, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa at the Wesley Methodist Church parsonage. He farmed many years and purchased the Laundromat in Conrad in September 1959. He was also employed as a bus driver for BCL Community School and for Floyd Johnston at the Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad. A charter member of the Conrad Lions Club, Leslie also served as its President. He was a member of the Conrad United Methodist Church. He loved fishing and telling stories. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At the age of 99 he passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011, at his home. Private graveside funeral services with the family were held June 22 at Conrad Cemetery in Conrad. Visitation was 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad. Leslie was a devoted and loving dad and grandpa and great-grandpa. He will be missed by his wife Pearl; his daughter, Janet (Wayne) Fiscus of Conrad; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his daughter Rhonda Reel, his parents and all of his brothers and sisters.∼I do not know which cemetery he is buried in, he died in Conrad, Grundy, Iowa so he probably is buried in Grundy County just not sure which cemetery. Son of Mark Elwood and Victoria Elizabeth (Bowers) Ralston. Siblings: Lorene Dorothy, Wayne Bowers, Thelma Una, Gerald Curtis, Chester Wilbur, D Elizabeth, Robert Eugene and Berry Lavonne Ralston. All the children were born in Grundy County, Iowa and according to all the census the family was raised there also. Leslie James married Perle Waugh 21 Nov 1936 in Des Moines Iowa. Perle is the daughter of John Andrew and Hulda M. (Benz) Waugh. Witnesses were Mr. and Mrs. L D Creure. In the 1940 Census they were living in Felix, Grundy, Iowa with a daughter Rhonda Lea Ralston.
