Description	:	Mr. Leslie Turner, well known Woodmen of the World Life Insurance representative, died early Monday morning, May 18, 2020. He was 93. Funeral services will be held by the graveside at Wayne Memorial Park at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 21. Officiating will be the Rev. Wanda Simmons and the Rev. Mark Stephens. Friends may call at the residence. Mr. Turner began his working career as a farmer and carpenter. In 1955, he joined Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society, became a part-time representative in 1964, and upon his retirement from farming ventures, he became a full time Woodmen agent in 1968. After 27 years of faithful service, he retired in 1991, but remained active in all lodge activities until his health would no longer allow participation. All of his Woodmen endeavors were through Lodge 508 in Mount Olive. He had attended Baker's Chapel Presbyterian Church and was Sunday school superintendent for many years. After his marriage to Polly Ivey in 1982, he attended Bethel United Methodist Church with her and her family for as long as his health allowed. First married to Gladys Anderson Turner in 1946, they had three sons, Ronald, Roger, and Travis. Sadly, Travis was taken in an automobile accident at a young age. Mr. Turner is survived by his wife, Polly Brock Ivey Turner; sons and spouses, Ronald and Linda Turner of Mount Olive, Roger and Tonie Turner of Raleigh, Major and Paula Ivey, Yates and Becky Ivey, and Robert and Christie Ivey, all of Mount Olive; beloved grandchildren and spouses, Sharon Stephenson, Keith and Diane McFatter, Sheila and Michael Byrd, Sara and Greg Bounds, Major Foy and Leslie Ivey, Stephanie and Daniel Oliver, Ashley and Charlie Ivey, Cody and Savannah Ivey, and Ben (Benjamin) and Natalie Ivey; great-grandchildren, Brenna, Annika, and Calli-Eve Autry, Lochlan, Liam, Julie, Gabriel, and Addie McFatter, Sean Stephenson, Kolton Lee, Angel and Veronica Moreno, Noah and Naomi Bounds, Hayden, Beau, and Pierce Ivey, Luke and James Oliver, Ivey, Eva, and Ashley Kate Anderson, and baby girl Ivey who is expected to arrive in June. Also surviving him are three sisters, Sallie T. Arnold of Ohio, Fonnie T. Copple and Dean T. Strickland, both of Goldsboro; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his young son, Leslie Travis Turner, Mr. Les was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Barbara Moreno; his parents, Claude and Mattie Lamm Turner; a brother, Earl L. Turner; and sisters, Annie T. Reeverts, Ida T. Hinson, Maggie T. Martin, and Shirley T. Barnes.
