Lester was born Dec. 21, 1908 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Albert and Ollie Ness Engdahl. When he was 7 years old, his family moved to a homestead on Hell Creek. Lester was born Dec. 21, 1908 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Albert and Ollie Ness Engdahl. When he was 7 years old, his family moved to a homestead on Hell Creek. He attended school at the Hell Creek school and in Jordan. At an early age, he began "riding the Montana range" he loved, working in cow camps, Lambing and breaking horses. Lester and Cora Forcier were married on December 1, 1930, at Miles City and they moved to Hell Creek to begin their ranching life. His life was building his ranch and in raising sheep. In spite of coyotes, fox, eagles and the EPA, he be lived in the "sheep Business". He was one of the original organizers of the Garfield County Wool Pool and the Predator Control Program in Garfield County. He served on the Taylor Grazing Board and was County Commissioner for sixteen years. Lester was a member of the Montana Wool growers, Montana Stock growers and the Garfield County Tax Association. He was also a member of the Range Riders, serving on the board of directors, the Elks, the Eagles and the Moose Lodge. Lester was named and designated a "Montana Centennial Cowboy" in 1989.
