Description	:	Lester E. Prouty, son of Fred & Lillie Shelsta Prouty, was born May 18, 1928 along with his twin brother, at Hayti, SD. He grew up on a farm west of Hayti, attended country school & graduated from Hayti High School. After serving in the U.S. Marines where he was a flight instrument trainer, he took an Ag Tech Course. Prouty, son of Fred & Lillie Shelsta Prouty, was born May 18, 1928 along with his twin brother, at Hayti, SD. He grew up on a farm west of Hayti, attended country school & graduated from Hayti High School. After serving in the U.S. Marines where he was a flight instrument trainer, he took an Ag Tech Course. He was married to Eleanore Bunde at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Watertown on February 12, 1961. During his many years as a farmer & rancher, he did custom corn shelling, was a Golden Harvest Seed Dealer & was the Archer Oil County Manager. He was a member of the Opdahl Township Board, Sioux Rural Water Board, YMW, Farmers Elevator Bowling League, was the Farm Bureau County President, Hamlin County Coop Board Secretary & a 4-H Leader. Lester was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Watertown where he served as the Church Board Secretary & a Sunday school teacher. Lester died on June 22, 2002 at the age of 74 years. He was preceded in death by his parents & 1 sister, Lorraine Tetzlaff. He is survived by his wife, Eleanore, Hayti; 2 daughters, Jeanne & her husband Jim Thune, Big Stone City, SD, Jody Norling of Crystal, MN & her special friend, Clifford Leden; 2 sons, Jay Prouty, Hayti, Luke Prouty, Montevidio, MN; 1 foster son, Randy Kieso, Sioux Falls, SD; 5 grandchildren; 4 foster grandchildren; 1 sister, Donna & her husband Floyd Minor, Brookings, SD; a brother-in-law, Bob Tetzlaff, Hayti; 2 brothers, LaMoyne (Lester's twin) & his wife Aletha Prouty, Vienna, SD & Ronald & his wife Helen Prouty, Hayti.
