Les was born the son of Lester and Opal (Smith) Garner. Sr., on January 20. 1927 at Germantown, OH near Dayton, OH. In 1937 he moved with his family to Sioux Falls where he grew up and received his education. He then worked at Sioux Steel for a year before working for Greenlee Meatpacking which later became Meilman's Meatpacking. In 1975 he began work for Western Lockers where he worked until retiring in 1992. Les married Henrietta Schweertman on February S, 1948 at Parker, SD. She preceded him in death on August II, 1999. He later married JoAnn (Barnes) Berven on January 17. 2004 in Sioux Falls. Les was a member of St. John American Lutheran Church; the Shirts & Skirts Square Dance Club: the Spares and Pairs Square Dance Club; as well as being a member of the Center for Active Generations. Les was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and golfing. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Garner, Sioux Falls; 7 children, Lois . (Bennie) Widman, DeSmet, SD, Margie Garner, Monroe, SD, Kathryn Garner. Sioux Falls, Joyce (Brian) Kringen, Aberdeen. SD, Larry (Kathie) Garner, Sioux Falls, Gary (Carla) Garner, ' Piedmont, SD, Eileen (Charlie) Blue, Colman, SD; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings. Bill (Millie) Garner, Sioux Falls, Shirley (Hurley) Breen. Sioux Falls, Steve (Connie) Taylor, Omaha, NE; 6 step children, Patricia Davis, Sioux Falls. Steven Berven, Covington, GA, Richard (Marilyn) Berven, Grand Island, NE, lames (Robin) Berven, Hortonville, Wl.
